This is a picture on my refrigerator. I had so much fun with these little girls. I don’t have many little girls in my life so when my friend said I could play dress up with her daughter. Aubrey, and have a tea party at my house and then invite another friend’s three little girls over, well, my mom and I had such fun making little jam sandwiches and chocolate chip cookies.
My mom was visiting at the time and we giggled the whole time, I think. We fixed Aubrey’s hair on top of her head, placed a scarf through it, cut up and redesigned an old bridesmaid dress I had in the back of the closet. It had a little cape with feathers, and just made Aubrey the most beautiful hostess in the world. I pulled out a tablecloth my mom had given me several years earlier and made a table with an old spindle. Then, of course we had had tea cups with lemonade in them and just dressed everything up.
My friend with the other three little girls had to go by the dentists’ office first in their finery. Several other people were in the waiting room and oohed and aahhed over them. The newspaper heard what was happening. They called and asked if they could come take a picture. Of course, we were delighted. It was just so much fun!
I have three sons who were also about the same age, and I had to bribe them with chocolate chip cookies to take to another friend’s house to play while we had tea time. Everyone had a wonderful day!
