“Nana is a Superstar” has a lovely ring to it, doesn’t it? I heard this from one of my grandsons the other day and it made my day.
Guy is a stuffed reindeer that is a very important part of my grandson’s life. Guy has been to many functions, places, and lost a few times with frantic searches to find him. My daughter-in-law is very smart and has made sure there is a backup Guy. However, Jack, my grandson and Guy’s best friend, knows the difference. Jack will tell you. Real Guy has an eye that is different than backup Guy. And because Jack likes to make sure Guy has lots of fun, we have found Guy stuffed in some interesting spots. This is also hard on Guy’s reindeer horns. Last summer Guy came for a sleepover at my house with Jack and Jack’s brother. One of Guy’s horns was ripped and not doing well. My son had fixed it once but now it needed some heavy-duty Nana work.

Jack very worriedly showed me that Guy’s horn was half off and was in danger of losing a lot of stuffing. I got out my quilting needle and thread. Jack was not sure it was big enough. I dug deep and came up with a much bigger needle that was acceptable for this important job. I used some very heavy thread and Jack anxiously watched me as we carefully did surgery on Guy. We discussed the importance of horns, how best friends help each other, and favorite foods for reindeer. We were able to fix him to Jack’s specifications and now Guy is back on the road to having more adventures. And I get to be a Superstar!
